BIO

An artist, composer, and pianist, Per Lamdahl J. explores tensions between form and matter, discipline and freedom, stability and drift. He seeks to create spaces in which every gesture, every silence, and every color carries weight. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and later in political science and urban studies, he brings together musical sensibility and structural rigor in a visual practice that has become central to his work.

His work has been presented in several solo and group exhibitions. It encompasses watercolor, painting, sculpture, and experiments with repurposed materials. His geometric watercolors engage with the unpredictability of water and pigment, while his acrylic paintings—on canvas or corrugated cardboard—exploit the physicality of the support to generate vibrant, unstable chromatic fields. His sculptures and wall compositions, combining plaster, wood, graphite, metal, and pigments, construct spaces of precise restraint where volumes and surfaces enter into dialogue.

At the core of Per Lamdahl J.’s practice lies the search for a fragile balance between control and emergence. His works invite viewers to move between certainty and slippage, evidence and doubt, silence and movement, within a universe where rigor and the unforeseen coexist and respond to one another.

Per Lamdahl J. (born 1975, Denmark) lives and works in Lyon, France.
