BIO
Per Lamdahl J. is an artist, composer, and pianist. His practice focuses on color, material, and the balance of forms. His work is grounded in a search for refinement and precision.
Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and later in political science and urban studies, he gradually oriented his path toward the visual arts. Following a decisive personal turning point, he chose to fully dedicate himself to artistic creation. This turning point deepened his attention to what is truly essential.
Beauty occupies a central place in his work. Not as embellishment, but as a requirement. He is interested in a quiet and unassuming beauty — one that does not seek effect or spectacle, but reveals itself through the precision of balances, the vibration of colors, and the presence of materials. This search calls for slowness and attention.
His geometric watercolors integrate the unpredictability of water and pigment within simple structures. His acrylic paintings — on canvas or corrugated cardboard — explore the tension between stability and instability. His sculptures and wall compositions, made from plaster, wood, graphite, metal, and pigments, favor economy of means and accuracy in the relationships between volumes and surfaces.
His work affirms a restrained temporality. It is not about imposing, but about making perceptible.
Per Lamdahl J. (born 1975 in Denmark) lives and works in Lyon, France.
